Just checked into this hotel. Before i could get to the room my husband met me with nasty pillows and complained of dirty sheets. There was hair and debris on the sheets and it was clear that housekeeping just made up the beds and did not change the sheets.
Unless you bring sleeping pills (thank God I did) you won't get a good night sleep. The lack of attention and uncleanliness opens the likelihood of having bed bugs.
That was short lived. We paid for a King suite. The room was horrible! When I did my evaluation of the room, here is what I found. Nothing was dusted or wiped down. Previous fingerprint all over the fridge and tables made me feel uncomfortable.
We told the front desk and she put us in another room. Still not the cleanest, but better than the first one. Only 2 sets of towels in the bathroom and the tub felt like it had been painted in the bottom and it was peeling. Fortunately, i had Clorex wipes in my car to wipe down the toilet and sink . If I'm paying for a room, I shouldn't have to clean it too.
I will say this, that the staff was nice and this IS the best hotel in town. If you must stay in town...this is your best bet. But good luck with that!
When I pulled the bed back from the headboard, there was JUNK between the mattress and the box spring (hair, Cheetos, dirt, and other objects!).
The sheets, blankets and towels were old, wrinkled, dingy and stained.
The upstairs foyer was actually nice looker, much better than the lobby. I found that odd....but as I was walking to my room, I had hope.
The lobby was dirty and unattractive. The area that kept the snacks was unorganized and aesthetically unpleasing to the eye. I should have known then!
This was one of the top 3 worst hotels I have ever stayed in (mind you the other 2 happened in my early 20's going to see Wisconsin play Iowa, I know better now that I'm in my 50's).
The fridge had standing water at the bottom of the fridge (I called about it, the front desk said they were coming to get it up....I never saw them).
Had a very good experience at this hotel with my 8 year old. We were there 5 nights and enjoyed everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean! We were late getting to breakfast one morning and they all made sure that we still got to eat even after things were put away! Everyone made sure we were very satisfied! We will definitely return in the future.
Ugh! It was a mess.
We stayed here because my family was having a family reunion. The area has it economical challenges, so I never expect The Ritz accommodation however.....
We asked for clean linen for our son for the sofa sleeper. They had NO extra blankets.
There is NO elevator! I REPEAT THERE IS NO ELEVATOR!
I will NEVER do this again.
I'm not sure what the previous Reviewers experienced when they stayed at this hotel, but I'm going to be very honest.
We were excited to see there was a hotel fairly close to my parents home. Bastrop has needed a nice hotel for decades. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel Thanksgiving 2017. The hot breakfast was good, but would have been better had they replaced the empty pan of sausage 45 minutes before breakfast was over. Several guests didn't get any sausage. But there seemed to be only one person manning the desk and breakfast area. We stayed in room 221. The room was neat and fairly clean but I left housekeeping a note with $4 for the next day requesting they clean the nasty finger prints all over the tv, fridge and microwave. We did have to ask for fresh batteries for the tv remote, but no big deal. I also ask housekeeping to remove, what I thought was cleaning residue off the bathroom faucet but as it turned out it was grossly corrided and really needs to be replaced. The carpet was dirty especially the area in the entry way. The fridge ice maker was froze over so we werent able to use it to refreeze some ice blocks we used in a small ice chest used while traveling. All in all, I would stay here again, because I heard it was probably the best one in Bastrop. I hate to see this place start to get run down though. They just need someone who cares to do quality checks on the rooms.
We left the next day and stayed in West Monroe, it is further to get to my family events....but there is nothing like piece of mind. I meant to take more pictures. Here is the picture of the iron in the wardrobe. The iron thrown in the wardrobe is NOT a game changer....it is however a great clue of the hotel's overall approach to cleanliness.
Since this was supposed to be the newest hotel in town, i expected a lot more. I've stayed at other Americas Best hotels and they were much nicer. Very disappointed!!!
The iron was THROWN in the wardrobe, it wasn't properly put away. The cord was not wrapped up at all.
The "SUITE"...sigh! There was a low partition that divided the sofa sleeper from the bed. There was this huge open space in from of the sofa sleeper where a piece of furniture should be, but nothing was there! Bad lighting, bad paint on the walls.
Nice small motel, clean. No elevator access to 2nd floor, beds are hard, desk personnel are not very friendly.
No closet, there was a wardrobe. It was not tall enough for me to hand our garment bag. The wardrobe was covered in fingerprints and dust.
